I received my initial certification in Special Education/Elementary Education from Western Washington University. I hold a Montessori Degree from Northwest Montessori school and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading and Writing from Lesley University. I began my teaching career with a variety of classroom positions and joined the St John faculty in 1990 as a Kindergarten teacher. I later moved to 2nd grade, then to middle school where for the past 10 years I have taught a variety of subjects most currently as 8th grade homeroom and middle school religion teacher. Last year I asked to move to 4th grade, a grade I have never taught before. I am a native Seattleite growing up in the Wedgewood neighborhood and attending OLL and Blanchet high school. I am a wife, mother of 3 adult daughters, and one granddaughter. What I love most about teaching is experiencing the joy that learning brings to my students.

This week’s newsletter is brief and we will get into more detail during Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 14.  Ms. Martin and I look forward to seeing you then. We are off to a great start learning about each other, setting goals, creating routines, and building our classroom communities. Typically, you will receive our weekly newsletters via email on Sunday.

Jog-a-thon News- The school’s largest fall fundraiser kicked off on Friday! Look for information packets in your child’s backpack. They should be in the Home Folder.

MAP Testing: MAP testing will begin September 11th. We will send home our specific testing dates as they are determined.

  • Tuesday, September 5 : Happy Birthday St John! 100 years. Student treats in the courtyard 
  • Friday, September 8– NO HOT LUNCH- Back to School BBQ—Parent Association Meeting 8:30am in Egan Hall
